Incitement to Insurrection

“If you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore,” Trump told the crowd. The House impeachment managers included that statement, and numerous others from the rally, as evidence of Trump using rhetoric that was “calculated to incite violence.”

Trump’s Attempted Coup

“The Senate must make clear to him and all who follow that a President who provokes armed violence against the government of the United States in an effort to overturn the results of an election will face trial and judgment.”

Trump Calls for Supporters to March to the Capitol

“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol. And we're gonna cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women. And we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them, because you'll never take back our country with weakness, you have to show strength and you have to be strong,” he said at his rally on the Ellipse.

As a Joint Session of the new 117th Congress convened to count the electoral votes and certify the 2020 predidential election, A mob of Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol leaving six people dead.

A Murderous Mob Attempting to overthrow the Government 

Just after 1 p.m, hundreds of Trump supporters, many in full riot gear, broke through barriers surrounding the Capitol, injuring police officers. After entering the Capitol, rioters begin roaming the halls of Congress, rioters began roaming the halls of the Capitol searching for Members of Congress. Numerous rioters chanted their intention to shoot Speaker Pelosi and hang V.P. Pence.
